We are pleased to announce the creation of an Atlanta Classical Student Honor Council in the coming 2018-2019 school year! After the implementation of the official ACA Honor Code this past year it became apparent that such a council is the logical next step in our endeavor to foster self-government in our student body.
Students have been nominated to serve on the council based on the examples of integrity, humility, and leadership they have set for their peers and the wider school community. For service on the inaugural council, teachers have nominated more than sixty-five students from each of the Upper School grades (rising 7-12th graders). The council will be made up of twelve students, a young man and a young lady from each grade.
Although the particular duties of the council are yet to be fully enumerated, the purpose of such student-leadership is to create opportunities for students to more fully participate in the accountability mechanisms of self-government. The hope for this council is that our young men and women will grow their character through the exercise of holding one another accountable to the oath they sign: to never lie, cheat, or steal.
We look forward to taking this next step in the growth and maturation of our school and we will release further details as this new institution becomes fully formulated.
