More than 300 members of our Cavalier Community came together for the second annual parent social, “A Classic Affair,” on Friday, February 8 at The Foundry at Puritan Mill. Atlanta Classical families, board members, grandparents, faculty and staff enjoyed delicious drinks and hors d’oeuvres while bidding on a wide variety of more than 180 silent auction items and community events. Atlanta Classical parents Susan Carlisle and Amanda Coleman chaired the event with the help of a dedicated group of additional parent volunteers. Two of the most popular items were the afternoon carpool pass and the UGA Club Level tickets. The event also brought back the popular “Gotta-Have-It” teacher experiences, where teachers donate their time to host activities to raise funds for the auction. Attendees and families bidding from home could purchase spots for their students to join their favorite teachers on various outings. Two of the most popular activities were going to Zoo Atlanta with Miss Ham and Mrs. Schwartz and a city-wide scavenger hunt with Dr. Negus.
Initial numbers indicate the event raised more than $60,000 to support the school’s fundraising efforts, with final totals to be tallied over the next month. Many thanks to Susan Carlisle, Amanda Coleman, Stacy Hanley, Lex Wells, Mara Perkins, Heidi Mooney and Mary Katherine Aaronson for the time, talent and hard work they dedicated to make the event such a success.
