MRS. MOORE

College Writing Advisor

Originally from east Tennessee, Kayla Beth Moore holds a masters in religion and literature from Yale Divinity School and a Master of Fine Arts in creative writing from the University of Florida.

After her graduation from Yale, she founded a dual lending library and bookstore at Grace Farms, a cultural center in New Canaan, CT. At Grace Farms she also organized literary programs for children and adults, and this is where she recognized a desire to teach. She left Grace Farms for the University of Florida MFA program. At Florida she taught a variety of classes including freshman composition, creative writing, and writing for engineers. While at Florida she was recognized as the English Department’s Teaching Assistant of the Year and given the chance to teach an upper-division English seminar of her own design.

Mrs. Moore fell in love with ACA during a teaching demo with sixth graders in 2021, and jumped at the chance to join the lower school faculty in the fall of that year. She and her husband, upper school English teacher Mr. McClatchey, also had the honor of leading ACA’s first senior trip abroad in the spring of 2022 where they introduced students to the cities of Rome and Florence.
