Mrs. Listro first set out to see the world at age 15 when she served as a Youth Ambassador for the Rotary Club. She spent her junior year of high school in France where her love of learning and languages was born. She returned overseas during college to work as an au-pair while auditing linguistic courses at the University of Rouen. After graduating cum laude from Central Connecticut State University with a degree in French and descriptive linguistics, Mrs. Listro and her husband went on to have five children right after graduation. Staying home to teach her own children about what is good, true, and beautiful became the priority for the next two decades.
The last 15 years have been full of adventure for Mrs. Listro and her family as they have lived in 5 different states, as well as spending a few years in South America where Mrs. Listro taught grades 5 – 8 in a small missionary school in the Amazon jungle.
After listening to the K-12 Educational Theory classes from Hillsdale College, Mrs. Listro knew that she needed to be involved in the Barney Charter School Initiative. Though she had never fully understood classical education until the completion of that course, she realized what she had been doing at home for 20 years with her own children, BCSI was doing in public charter schools. She knew she needed to be a part of this reawakening to classical education in the public sector. Her family agreed, and in 2017 they moved from Oregon to Florida to be a part of the BCSI movement. Mrs. Listro spent two years teaching 3rd grade at Mason Classical Academy. In 2019 the journey continued bringing Mrs. Listro and family to Atlanta. She is excited to be a part of the ACA family.
